The Effect Of Priming Of Optimism And The Esteem On Life...

This study analyzed the effect of the priming of optimism and self- esteem on life satisfaction. It was predicted that participants with low self-esteem and primed with optimism with have high life satisfaction rates. Optimism was primed by having the participant make four sentences by using words from a group of words. The Rosenberg scale was used to classify the participants into low or high self-esteem. The life satisfaction questionnaire was used to rate how much the participant was satisfied with life. It was concluded that participants who have high self-esteem also have high satisfaction than those who have low self-esteem. No interaction was found to be conclusive. It is an indicator of how the person will be able to manage certain situations in his or her life. Self- esteem is the confidence in one s own worth or abilities. Self- esteem can affect the way someone feels about his or her life. The prime effect is the implication of a memory effect in which exposure to one stimulus influences the response to another stimulus. The person’s behavior may be exposed to actions that unconsciously shape the way he or she acts and thinks. This may be shown in repetition of words to alter the way a person may act to something.
